Abstract
Billingualism and multilingualism are considered to be a frequent event confronted in a society with multiple nations. In this article social significance of multilingualism is discussed and the terms like diglossia, triglossia, polyglossia are linguistically defined. Besides, Chicano version of American English is idiosyncratically determined as an example of this sociolinguistic process
