This article examines the specific aspects of the principles of the development and progress of the continental genre. In this article, the contributions of such authors as Mahmud Kashgari's "Devonu lug'otit turk" in the works of Khorezmi, Gadoi, Lutfi, and the contributions of Babur, Pashshahoja, Munis Khorezmi, Shavqi Kattakurgani, Ogahiy, Miriy, Avaz Otar and other poets to Uzbek continental literature in the 16th-19th centuries are recognized. Emphasis is placed on the fact that Habibiy, Maqsud Shaikhzoda, Mirtemir, Chustiy, Charkhi, E.Vohidov and others created continentals in aruz and finger meter. The place of the continental genre in Turkic written literature and its progressive development are studied.
